Key 13 : Key for Mottle and Barring
Chicken has a lot of white feathertips or irregular large white patches.
White tipp can be surrounded by a black feature (band, spangle) on groundcolor feathers.
Mottled.

The chicken is barred all over. If he is male, the barred hens are a lot darker.
The barring looks like parts of the feather being washed out, diluted, up to white.
The darkest feather parts may be undiluted (eg black) but often are also somewhat diluted, washed out or pale.
Barring effect can be faint for some colorpatterns and bodyparts, eg the salmon breast of crele pullets.
