Key 11 : Key for Extended black, Birchen and Melanized partridge
Note: Black can be diluted to blue, lavender, chocolate, khaki or white.
Chicken is solid, one color, little to no leakage of silver, gold or red feathers in females. Males may be leaky in hackles.
The black is strong, shiny, dark underfluff. Chickdown is typically penguin.
Shankcolor often dark, black (ignore picture) covering white or yellow.
Extended Black.

Chicken has nice patterned gold, silver or red hackles, and possibly laced upperbreast in the same color,
otherwise full black or a dilution thereof.
Chickdown is solid black with a reddish brown head sometimes. Face and comb skin can be purple instead of red.
Shanks often dark but can be lightened more easily than in Extended Black.
Birchen.
