MC1R
This protein is a cell membrane bound receptor that can be activated by α-MSH or inhibited by the agouti protein. Once activated it mediates eumelanin production via cAmp. Some mutations of the MC1R protein result in a constitutively active receptor and thus hightened eumelanin production.
